Zhou QirenProfessor Zhou graduated from the Department of Economics, Renmin University of China in 1982. In 1980s, he ever worked for the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Center for Rural Development of the Chinese State Council, when he was engaged in the reform and development research from economic perspective, and awarded the highest economic honor in China, Sun Yefang Economics Prize. In 1990s, he studied at several universities in England and America, and got an M.A. and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Professor Zhou came back to China in 1995. Since then, he is the Providence Professor of Economics of China Center for Economic Research, Peking University. In 2001 to 2005, he was invited to be visiting professor of Zhejiang University, and in 2006, of Fudan University. Since 2000, he has been invited to deliver courses by China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), Graduate School of the People鈥檚 Bank of China, and Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business.

He is well known for his profound and thorough researches in New Institutional Economics, Development Economics, Chinese Economy, Theory of Economic Institutional Change, Theory of Firm and Market Organization, etc. His recent research interests include Property Rights and Contracts, Theory of Human Resources, Firm Theory, Regulation and Deregulation Reform, Medical System Reform, Currency, Land System Reform, etc.
