Topic 1:Linking hospital payment to quality of care: evidence on effectiveness using synthetic control methods           

Speaker:Dr Alex Turner(Dr Alex Turner is a Research Fellow in Health Economics. His research focuses on the development and application of methods for evaluating the impact of large-scale health policies in a primary and secondary care setting. He currently leads a project examining the effects of devolving health and social care powers from a national to regional level in Greater Manchester on socio-economic inequalities in health and healthcare utilisation. His additional research interests include examining the causes and consequences of poor health in childhood.)

Topic 2:How are General Practices funded in England?            

Speaker:Dr Yiu-Shing Lau(Dr Yiu-Shing Lau is a Research Fellow in Health Economics. His research requires linking and managing large and complex datasets and applying econometric analysis to evaluate effects of policy on healthcare. The focus of his research is both within the primary and secondary care setting within the English NHS. He has particular interests in primary care workforce, financial incentives, hospital utilisation and resource allocation)
