Scholars discussed about preparation of China-Japan-Korea Joint Health Systems Research Mechanism

Invited by Prof. Meng Qingyue, Executive Director of CCHDS, Prof. Hashimoto Hideki from Tokyo University School of Public Health, and Prof Soonman Kwon from Seoul National University School of Public Health visited CCHDS from January 23rd to 24th, 2011, and discussed in depth with researchers at CCHDS about topics of common interests and mechanism of collaboration.

China, Japan and Korea have strong ties culturally and historically. In the modern era, all have created economic miracles. In the areas of social construction, especially health system reform and development, the three countries are faced with a lot of similar issues. Experiences of health system reform and development of each country is of lessons that the others could learn from. During the meeting, the three parties made a lot of agreements. All think it necessary to promote of communication and collaboration on health system research between the three universities and even the three countries. The three parties jointly decided to establish China-Japan-Korea Joint Health Systems Research Mechanism, and organize China-Japan-Korea Forum on Health Systems Research, as well as other research and teaching activities. In the near future, the three parties will jointly conduct researches focusing on universal health coverage, financing, governance and behavior of hospitals, and pharmaceutical policies, and seek to organize the first CJK Forum on Health Systems Research during the Second Global Symposium of Health System Research.
