‘China UK Global Health Support Programme: Key Research on Global Health - Health Systems Strengthening’ project launch and policy symposium convened

 

The ‘China UK Global Health Support Programme (GHSP): Key Research on Global Health - Health Systems Strengthening’ project launch and policy symposium was convened in Beijing on 27 February 2014. The GHSP grant application was a partnership between Peking University, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) in Tanzania, Fudan University, and Henan Provincial Health Department. Officials from Peking University Health Science Center, Department of International Cooperation at National Health and Family Planning Commission, UK Department for International Development, and the project management agencies respectively delivered their speech. The speakers emphasized the significance of GHSP as to health development studies and health systems research, expressed strong supports for the project, and illuminated expectations for project implementation agencies and respective contents of work.

 

 Experts and officials from National Health and Family Planning Committee, Peking University, Fudan University, China Health Economics Association, China National Health Development Research Center, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Beijing Municipal Health Bureau introduced China’s health system development, progress in health reform and related institution and practice. Scholars from LSHTM, IHI, WHO China Office introduced relevant experiences in global health financing, incentive mechanisms for health human resources, health policy research and dissemination.

 

This symposium promoted exchanges among project funding agencies, management organizations, implementation agencies and other partners, and laid a solid foundation for the implementation of GHSP.
