‘China UK Global Health Support Programme: Key Research on Global Health - Health Systems Strengthening’ project work plan seminar

 

From the afternoon of 27th to 28th February 2014, ‘China UK Global Health Support Programme: Key Research on Global Health - Health Systems Strengthening’ project work plan seminar was convened by Peking University School of Public Health and CCHDS. The participants included: researchers involved in this project from Peking University; Prof Anne Mills, Prof Kara Hanson, and Dr Dina Balabanova from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; Dr Gemini Mtei and Dr Irene Masanja from Ifakara Health Institute in Tanzania; project leaders from Fudan University School of Public Health; and responsible officials from Henan Provincial Health Department.

 

 Issues decided upon in this meeting included: specific review topics – health financing, health human resources, basic public health services, health service delivery, and health governance; confirmation on the need of a research framework before comparative analysis and integration that would be in combination with related studies in China and Tanzania; Specific content, participants, and arrangements of the capacity building events (training, study visits, etc.) in China, UK, and Tanzania respectively. Besides the discussions on the work plan, specific tasks, outcomes, and timeline for each institution were also clarified. Budget arrangements, project management, and regular exchange approaches were also discussed.

 

As a result of this seminar, a practical first annual work plan was produced for the ‘China UK Global Health Support Programme: Key Research on Global Health - Health Systems Strengthening’.
