Professor Anne Mills Elected Fellow of Royal Society

Professor Anne Mills has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) on 03 May 2013. Anne is the President of the International Health Economics Association (iHEA) and Vice Director of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). She is also the member of the Governing Board of Peking University China Center for Health Development Studies (CCHDS).

As Professor Peter Piot, Director of LSHTM, said, “Anne Mills is respected globally as an outstanding researcher and educator, and has made many original and impactful contributions in vital areas of health economics, financing and policy”. Professor Mills has researched and published widely in health economics and health systems in low and middle income countries. She continues to be involved in research on health insurance developments in Tanzania, India and Thailand, and on strengthening services for mothers and children, as well as in supporting capacity development in health economics in low and middle income country universities and research institutes.
In recent years, she has paid much attention to the health development China. Since the establishment of CCHDS in 2010, she has been a founding member of the Governing Board of CCHDS and provided important guidance and support to the development of CCHDS. Under her direct coordination, China Medical Board is sending 10 Chinese students to study for MSc program at LSHTM in the area of health policy and systems research. Two of our masters students (Zhang Huan, Wu Qiong) have been enrolled to this year’s program. Since January this year, Anne has also admitted Jin Xu, a young CCHDS researcher as her PhD student and supervise his study on health policy in China.
