CCHDS’s Workshop on payment systems and group purchasing mechanism of pharmaceuticals

On June 10-11 2011，CCHDS held a workshop on payment systems and pooled purchasing mechanism of pharmaceuticals in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. This workshop is funded by Pfizer Corporation, and it is part of the academic activities of the drug policy research project. The participants include representives from Department of Planning and Financing, MoH, representives from drug purchasing centers in Beijing, Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Sichuan and Huan provinces, and experts on drug policy from Fudan University, Shandong University and Peking University. Professor Hu Shanlian from Fudan University reported his opinions on pooled drug purchasing, Dr. Sun Qian from Shandong University reported the results of a study on essential drug policy in Anhui Province, Dr. Yang Li from Peking University gave an introduction to drug pricing regulation and pooled drug bidding and purchasing for health insurance scheme, and Professor Meng Qingyue, Executive Director of the CCHDS, reported a macro conceptual framework of drug policy research. All participants contributed to thoughtful discussions and comments on the issues of of China’s drug policy research and pooled bidding drug purchasing practice.
