Lord Nigel Crisp and Lady Shaun Crisp Visited CCHDS and Lectured on NHS

    On April 20, 2010, Lord Nigel Crisp, Chief Executive of UK National Health Service (NHS) and Permanent Secretary of the UK Department of Health (2000-2006) visited CCHDS on Assignment of China Medical Board (CMB) to conduct Mid-Point Appraisal for Health Policy and Systems Studies (HPSS) Programs at Peking University Health Science Center. Prof. Ke Yang, Executive Vice President of Peking University and Executive Vice President of Peking University Health Science Center, Dr. Zhang Lei, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation attended the meeting. Prof. Meng Qingyue, Executive Director of CCHDS, Prof. Guo Yan from School of Public Health, and Prof. Liu Guoen from Guanghua School of Management reported progress of projects.



    After the appraisal meeting, Lord Crisp delivered a special seminar on “the Development and Reform of the National Health Service” at Yifu Teaching Building Auditorium. Prof. Ke Yang made welcome remarks and Prof. Meng Qingyue hosted the seminar. Officials from National Council Office of Health Reform, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, State Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Roman Xu and colleagues from CMB Beijing Office, researchers from relavant research institutions as well as faculty and students from Peking University Health Science Center attended the seminar. In-depth discussion was made on financing and payment system, general practitioner, drug evaluation, hospital administration as well as other issues.
