The Center for Healthy Aging Transdisciplinary Sciences (CHATS) at Peking UniversityChina Center for Health Development Studies, established on September 9, 2024, is an advanced research center focused on aging-related issues in China. The center brings together experts from diverse fields, includinggeriatrics,gerontology,preventive medicine, health management, economics, demography, computational science, and environmental science. Over the past decade, the team has conducted interdisciplinary research on aging-related health management, particularly addressing the "threeDisadvantages"(3Ds)at late life: disability, dementia, and depression. The center hasbeen involved in well-known aging cohort administration including CLHLS (Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Study) and CHCCS (China Hainan Centenarian Cohort Study), andinitiated multi-center RCT studies on fall prevention, fractures, andfunctioningdisability among rural older adults ingrassrootregions such as Miyun (Beijing), Lvliang (Shanxi), Qianjiang (Hubei), and Lu'an (Anhui).
In the last five years, team members have published extensively in prestigious journals, including Lancet, Nature Medicine, Lancet Public Health, Nature Human Behaviour, Alzheimer's & Dementia,and Lancet Healthy Longevity. CHATS researchers have contributed to influential reports such as The Path to Healthy Aging in China and Dementia Prevention, Intervention, and Care for The Lancet. Additionally, over the past three years, they have led or contributed to key aging health policy reports, which have been endorsed by national leaders and incorporated into the Opinions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on Strengthening Work Related to Aging in the New Era.
