Center for Integrated Health Systems (CIHS)

Buildingpeople-oriented integrated health systems is a health development priority in China and globally. CIHS consists of a multidisciplinary research team with global academic backgrounds in health economics, management, epidemiology, public finance, sociology, demography, political science, and medical engineering. CIHS focuses on areas such as health financing and incentive, governance, integrated health service models, digital health technologies (telemedicine collaboration, digital therapeutics, etc.), and international health systems. The team conducts policy evaluation and intervention research on integrated care, especially for addressing health challenges related to cardiovascular risk, cancer, multimorbidity, prioritizing the vulnerable groups and people living in remote areas. CIHS members have been commissioned by China’s health reform authority to develop a “Framework of People-Centered Integrated Health System”, which informed national policy making. CIHS members have also participated as leading experts in a China-WHO flagship joint project on “People-Centered Integrated Care”. Work of the CIHS members have been published in leading medical journals such asThe LancetandBMJ, as well as first line journals for health policy and systems research.
