The Center for Health WorkforceDevelopmentconducts systematic and in-depth researchfocusingon health workforce planning,education andtraining, deployment, motivation and performance management.Previousresearch focused on attracting and retaining primary healthcareworkersin rural areas,includinga systematic analysis of global policy development andcasestudiesinAsian countries. Startingin2015, theCenterestablisheda long-term cohort study tracking medical graduates with compulsory servicecommitmentin rural areas of central and western China, analyzingtheircareer development andjobperformance.
Additionally, theCenterhasalso analyzed the compensation system for public hospital and grassroots health workforce, development strategies for health workforce in disease prevention and control agencies, and collaborative development planning for medical education and healthcare. The Center providespolicy supports have for health workforce development to the World Health Organization and the National Health Commission of China. As a collaboratinginstituteof the Asia Pacific Action Alliance on Human Resources for Health (AAAH), theCenter actively engages in research and policy formulation to advance health workforce development in Asian countries.
