To enhance China’s research capacity in health economics related to infectious disease prevention and immunization programs and to advance evidence-based decision-making for vaccine use, the Peking University Health Science Center and the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention jointly established the "Peking University Health Science Center- Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention Joint Research Center for Vaccine Economics" in December 2019.The Joint Research Center for Vaccine Economics aims to become a leading domestic and internationally recognized research institution in vaccine economics and related fields. Its research focuses include vaccine economic evaluations, the economic burden of vaccine-preventable diseases, national immunization program policies, and strategies for financing vaccination programs.The center has led and participated in several studies funded by major national research and development programs, the Beijing Natural Science Foundation (key and frontier projects), the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Center researchers have published articles as first authors or corresponding authors in high-impact journals, including BMJ, Lancet Public Health, JAMA Network Open, Bulletin of the World Health Organization, and EClinicalMedicine.
