Center personnel attend and participate in the 8th Global Health System Research Conference

The 8th Global Health System Research Conference was held in Nagasaki, Japan from November 18-22, 2024. Director Ren Minghui of Peking University China Health Development Research Center (hereinafter referred to as the Center) led the team, and Vice Director Liu Xiaoyun, Deputy Director Yuan Beibei, Researcher He Ping, Associate Researcher Xu Jin, and several doctoral students participated in the conference.

The Global Health System Research Conference is an interdisciplinary, cross research and practical academic conference in the field of global health policy and system research. It is also the most influential conference in this field that has received widespread attention from health system researchers and practitioners from developing countries, developed countries, international organizations and intergovernmental organizations. It is held every two years. The theme of this conference is "Building a Just and Sustainable Health System: Putting People at the Center, Protecting the Earth". More than 2000 health policy and system researchers, decision-makers, and practitioners from 146 countries had in-depth and extensive exchanges.

The central teacher was deeply involved in discussions and oral presentations on multiple topics during the conference. Director Ren Minghui served as the keynote speaker and guest speaker for the "Global Health Diplomacy" seminar. Associate Researcher Xu Jin participated in organizing and hosting a special seminar on "Leveraging the Power of Data and Knowledge to Establish Fair and Efficient Health Systems in Asia and Other Regions", and gave an oral presentation titled "Systematically Promoting Digital Therapy to Empower Health Systems: Experience from Hainan, China" at the special seminar on "Strengthening Private Sector Participation and Digital Solutions to Promote Fair and Sustainable Governance of Complex Health Systems". Professor Liu Xiaoyun's doctoral student Zheng Huixian gave an oral presentation on "Mandatory retention of general practitioners in rural areas: evidence from a prospective cohort study in China" in the special topic of "Strengthening the retention and capacity of health personnel in underserved and conflict environments". At the same time, the center's teachers and doctoral students presented multiple posters to share research progress in the fields of health service equity and universal health coverage.

By participating in this conference, researchers from the center disseminated the research results of Peking University's China Health Development Research Center, shared the progress of China's health system reform, and expanded Peking University's contribution and influence in building global health policies and systems research.
