From November 18-22, 2024, the 8th Global Conference on Health Systems Research was convened in Nagasaki, Japan. A delegation led by Dr. Ren Minghui, Director of the China Center for Health Development Studies at Peking University (CCHDS), including Deputy Directors Dr. Liu Xiaoyun and Dr. Yuan Beibei, Researcher Dr. He Ping, Associate Researcher Dr. Xu Jin, and multiple doctoral students, actively engaged in the conference.

As the preeminent biennial global forum for interdisciplinary health policy and systems research, the conference attracted over 2,000 researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from 146 countries. Focused on the theme "Building Just and Sustainable Health Systems: People-Centered and Planet Protection," participants exchanged innovative approaches to address critical challenges in health equity, governance, and sustainability.

CCHDS experts delivered significant contributions across multiple sessions:

Dr. Ren Minghui served as a discussant in the symposium "Global Health Diplomacy," highlighting China’s role in multilateral health cooperation.

Dr. Xu Jin co-organized and chaired the session "Harnessing Data and Knowledge for Equitable Health Systems in Asia," while presenting findings on "Systemic Promotion of Digital Therapies in Hainan, China."

Dr. Liu Xiaoyun’s doctoral student, Ms. Zheng Huixian, shared evidence from a prospective cohort study on "Mandatory Retention of Rural General Practitioners in China" during the session on health workforce strengthening in underserved regions.

Additionally, CCHDS researchers presented posters showcasing advancements in health service equity and universal health coverage, further elevating China’s voice in global health dialogue.

By participating in this landmark event, CCHDS amplified its commitment to advancing evidence-based health system reforms, fostering international collaboration, and contributing to the global agenda for health equity and sustainability.
